Old man's Room News/Complaints

The yapping cute little dogs I don't think have shut up since coming here. Only yaps when someone comes or goes by the room that the owners are in. They cleaned up the pool room and tore down the pool table since it was in bad shape and not worth saving. They're all staying there until the middle room is complete with new flooring and repairs to the hole by the bathtub. It was filthy as well as damaged badly from not being kept clean of water on the water from the bathtub. But, getting there as have to save a little money for new replacement stuff.

Seems to be Hershel Johnson is wanting to start more of his stupid lies and this time, told his brother James that the backdoor is locked at 9 pm daily to keep her out. Of course a lie, after all the door is unlocked and always has been for more than fifteen years now. His mom never stated such bs. Just Hershel unhappy with his life I suppose. No idea or feeling bad for himself not getting on SSI or free money. In short, now has no choice but to live with his wife he married and she is one that is not happy with her husband not working to get their own place or live as a working family like her dad has done all her life. Maybe unhappy as well because he has to start working or looking for jobs, which he'll never do.

James said he is coming back in a couple of weeks and plans on living here back in his room because the chicken plant is hiring at $17.00 per hour. Told him if he has a place already as well as a job, he should stay there. But, he said his ride to work is leaving back home, and will no longer have a job as too far to go for work. Also stated that his probation officer said that nothing but felony people live here and he won't be able to stay here. Said very interesting, is she saying his mom and dad are felons? After all, I have no idea who they are as don't know of any felons myself. Think something else his little brother is saying. But, she is an adult babysitter and doesn't like me at all because I am the type that will not disclose my personal life or answer her bullshitty questions. Told James to get a place of his own across the chicken plant and a good place to have his own to avoid the crap that his probation officer has to say. Which again is of course his little brother doing whatever it is he wants to do. Lowed the rent of rooms as guessing the last caretakers were taking advantage. Took fifty dollars off monthly and back to $300.00 monthly. Even a deal for the liar caretakers of seven years that I even allowed the rents to go to them to just $200.00 each monthly. Now as always if they don't like it, then always able to move. Won't find anyplace else at $200.00 a month with everything paid for. Plus being repaired as soon as it needs to be. Think they can see now how lazy they really were all those years and did nothing but make a mess. Which is now not a bad-looking place once again with someone here keeping things cleaned up.

Old man's Room News/Complaints

Well, looks like I have found someone agreeing to fixing up as well as repairing for four adults to move in on November 3, 2021. Since Arkansas laws are made more for the owners of the property, I use a simple room rental agreement as shown below. The agreements already signed by me, as well as verbally agreed to repairs at their own expense over a period of time to make up the difference for rent. Verbally things like cat litter box cleaned daily, checking up on any trash left in or around yards as well as trash taken out to road each Tuesday night for pick up. All utilities including Pest control provided by the owner of the Property who also lives in one of the rooms of said property. This is more of the verbal items we agree to, as no reason to list everything in a room agreement when verbally both parties agree. I believe in Trust and the word of people more than a signature. These adults will be in charge of everything inside as well as outside of the house. They will also tell other room rentals if they're not cleaning up after themselves to start doing so or plan on moving. Yards agreed to be kept up when summer arrives again. No drugs or alcohol is illegal to be used on said property. Anyone that smokes will do so in their own rooms or outside. Owner John Lewis Sr. Never to be bothered whatsoever. If can't clean up after yourself, then start looking for someplace else to move. Anything that bothers you can be addressed to my son John Lewis, and he will talk it over with the new caretakers doing everything for room rentals and they understand no income will be paid. No overnight visitors, wish to visit then do so at their homes or rooms. No loud noise after 10 PM inside of the house as other roomers may be sleeping for work the following day. Respect each other's rights as they will yours. Can't get along or agree then MOVE! AT this time all rooms are filled and will let everyone know when I have another room ready.

                 A pandemic can be expected to surge yet again in the winter

  Approximately 7.5 million people are affected by the end of federal unemployment benefits that extended state unemployment safety nets, with another 2 or 3 million losing the $300 per week federal stipend.

  Workers who can't find safe pandemic jobs are now grappling with less money but the same pandemic as they were dealing with last month. What's probably going to happen next on the labor front is ... not much. Again, the data shows that workers weren't being goaded into staying home by the enhanced pandemic safety net; they were just able to eat and stay in their homes while looking for employment in a now much-trickier market. We can expect the economy as a whole to take a hit, including the financials of some of the exact service industries restless for workers. People with no money don't spend money.

If the winter pandemic surge is as bad as it is now looking like it might be, it's possible that Congress may be forced into reinstating benefits to keep the all-heralded economy from again going into a nosedive. Unlikely, but possible. But it's not clear how the current surge will prod vaccination rates—presumably, overfilled local hospitals will help convince vaccine holdouts that the risk they're taking is greater than they once thought it was—or whether the delta variant will give way to an even newer strain that erases past gains.

Ending pandemic benefits while the pandemic is surging to new highs is a ridiculous move. It won't take long for the damage reports to begin rolling in.

Not his fault that Hunter did not hear him put his hands up or listen to any of his commands, He felt threatened and didn't want to have to get hurt if Hunter was coming towards him . LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KATV) — The lawyer for the former deputy who shot and killed Arkansas teenager Hunter Brittain during an early morning traffic stop in June says Sergeant Michael Davis should be reinstated as a Lonoke County Sheriff's Deputy.

Attorney Robert Newcomb has represented more than 30 officers involved in officer-involved shootings and insists that Davis retaining a lawyer is not an admission of wrongdoing. He said the Southern States Police Benevolent Association and the Fraternal Order of Police both have a list of lawyers they recommend to their members if they’re involved in a critical incident, such as shooting.

Arkansans might remember Newcomb as a lawyer in another officer-involved shooting that gained media attention. Newcomb previously served as the lawyer for former Little Rock police officer Charles Starks in the shooting death of Bradley Blackshire during a felony traffic stop.

Now Newcomb is representing Davis, who he says should never have been fired from the sheriff's department. About a week after the death of the 17-year-old Brittain, Davis was fired for failing to activate his body camera until after he had shot the teen, a violation of department policy.

Newcomb said the county opted for one of the least expensive types of body camera.

“Sergeant Davis told him he thought he had turned it on, he went through the motions. Either the camera malfunctioned or he didn’t get all of the things pushed,” Newcomb said. He added that when Davis spoke with state police, he voluntarily waived his rights against self-incrimination.

Newcomb said that, unlike Little Rock Police body cameras that turn on when their car door opens, Lonoke sheriff deputies have to press multiple buttons to turn their cameras on.

“It was not a deliberate act on his part. Not regarding what’s going on, but you’re talking about a situation at 3 o’clock in the morning with a suspicious vehicle and you’re probably averaging more than one officer a week being killed,” Newcomb said.

Newcomb also said the Lonoke County's body cameras have short battery life and not enough storage capacity. He went on to say that Davis originally had a personal dash camera on his police vehicle but Sheriff John Staley ordered him to take it down.

“It’s a tragedy that young Hunter died. Sergeant Davis is just torn up about it, as you can be. I know he’s not as torn up as the parents. There’s no way to understand all their grief,” Newcomb said.

Newcomb said Davis has requested a grievance hearing to be reinstated as a deputy at the sheriff’s office.

“In this case the young man (Hunter) never responded to any of the verbal commands or said anything to officer Davis,” Newcomb said.

16-year-old Jordan King was in the truck with Hunter when he was pulled over. King told KATV that he didn’t hear Davis say anything to Hunter before he was shot. Newcomb said he heard a different story.

“The officer was saying show me your hands to Hunter, this person (the witness) stuck his hands out of the passenger side of the vehicle,” Newcomb said.

KATV reached out to Hunter’s uncle Jesse Brittain after speaking with Davis’ lawyer.

“They’re hiding stuff. I don’t believe them,” Brittain said. “I’m telling you that the dude is going to prison for murder. That’s all there is to it. He murdered my nephew.”

Brittain emphasized the need for the end to qualified immunity. He also said that he expects the case to go before a federal grand jury.

“Everybody in Lonoke County needs to stand up and vote and change the way that things work around there,” Brittain said. He also said that the right people voting would help end corrupt police practices and police violence.

The Associated Press reported Friday that Lonoke County Prosecutor Chuck Graham has sent the case file to the state prosecutor coordinator to be assigned to a special prosecutor. Newcomb said this doesn’t surprise him, because in small counties like Lonoke the prosecuting attorney typically knows all the deputies and they don’t want any appearance of partiality.

Arkansas' prosecutor coordinator, Bob McMahan, said Monday that he had appointed Jeff Phillips as the special prosecutor for the case.

State Police said that even though the case file has been sent over to the prosecutor’s office, it remains open and active and cannot be shared with the public. We are awaiting word on the appointment of a special prosecutor for this case.
